Nicknamed “NoCap,” this American-made, Hogan Built custom 1970 Chevrolet K5 Blazer is a completely restored no-expense-spared build, including metal and bodywork that show the result of a concours-worthy refinish. Starting as a GM American-made product, this Blazer has taken on a new European look on life. This K5 is powered by a 427ci supercharged LS3 engine refinished in Aurora Blue Metallic and producing over 800hp, backed by a built 4L80 Hughes transmission. Dispersing that power is an advanced adapter attached to an Atlas twin-stick transfer case. The mechanical highlights include vintage Chevrolet valve covers with hidden coil packs, a DeWitts aluminum radiator and polished stainless-steel radiator hoses, with all wiring and plumbing tucked away. This K5 is fed by a Boyd Welding 24-gallon aluminum fuel tank that has undergone the full polish treatment. Setting the standard for the four-wheel-drive Resto-Mod movement, a custom chassis was in order. The engine body and chassis are professionally wired with an American Autowire harness, trimmed and tailored to fit. It features modern-design Weld wheels, Fox shocks, crossover steering and Currie axles. Powder-coated in “Blackjack,” the Hogan Built/RevB chassis gives this K5 its stance. Keeping the European vibes flowing, the supercar-inspired 3-inch titanium exhaust was fabricated, polished, heat-treated and TIG-welded. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel Wilwood disc brakes backed by a CPP hydro-boost system. After being slathered in PPG Porsche Chalk Gray, 1968 lower trim was retrofitted to the laser-straight body. The front clip of this Blazer sets it apart from the rest with its 1968 hood slant and a chrome 1972 grille that has been fit flush to the fenders. It rides on 17-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich 37-inch mud-terrain tires. The fiberglass removable hardtop was also refinished in the PPG Porsche Chalk gray but topped off with a touch of texture and three coats of “eggshell” clear, giving it an OEM-plus look. Also included in the top restoration were all-new seals, weatherstripping, glass, shocks and hatch components. The “Blau Spec” interior features front bucket seats and bench spanning the rear the Mercedes-inspired diamond-stitched bolsters. Blending the custom door panels, side panels, speaker box and seats is a 1955 Bel-Air cloth insert topped with a Deep Blue Alcantara. Under the blue square-weave carpet is plenty of Dynamat and floor insulation material, keeping the road noise to a minimum. A RetroSound head unit installed in the dash plays through a JL Audio system, including four Infinity Kappa 6.5-inch speakers, four Infinity tweeters and two JL 10-inch W3 subwoofers, powered by a JL XDM 1000-watt amplifier providing surround sound. It also features Classic Instruments gauges, a new tilt steering column, TIG-welded roll cage and a brand-new Vintage Air system.
